Priya Drews Visionary Artist

“I love to surprise, delight and move people emotionally. Whether it is a pause to appreciate beauty, a thought process or a surprised chuckle, I enjoy the pleasure my paintings give people.”

Priya Drews has always been exhilarated by the vibrancy and expression that color and composition have played in her life. Born and raised in rural Illinois, the luscious deep hues and textures of the changing seasons sparked her innate creativity. Priya’s real artistic education began at the Art Institute of Chicago where exposure to the works of the impressionists and surrealist painter Rene Magritte inspired a life-long passion for vivid color and visual absurdity. A BS degree in Scene Design gave Ms.Drews a strong background in perspective, light, color. And at the Baum School of Art in Allentown and the Wallingford Center for the Arts, her studies with M. Scott Noel guided Priya in oil and pastel portraiture and still life. Her artistic skills and varied styles have been further matured and influenced by southwest artists Cody DeLong, Larissa Aukon and Betsey Nelson.

Priya Drews has shown her work at a variety of locations in Flagstaff and Sedona since 2011.
