Jason’s paintings and silverpoint drawings reflect his love of still life and landscape which he combines to create imagery he calls “desert surrealism.” Jason is a Veteran of the Iraq war and lives with his wife in Phoenix.
Painting for me is an exploration. When I paint a still-life, I’m not just describing the objects in front of me, but I’m also exploring the scene as if I were going there in person. By using extremes in scale and perspective, I create drama in my paintings, bringing the viewer into the picture plane.
