Laszlo Gyermek | Currently On ExhibitLaszlo Gyermek, MD, PhD, is a retired Professor of Anesthesiology at the Harbor UCLA Medical Center and researcher at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute. He is also an amateur artist. He was born into an artistic family in Budapest, Hungary (his great grandfather, grandfather were art teachers and painters, and his father, a physician has been an amateur painter). With his wife, Laszlo escaped from Communist Hungary and settled in the USA in 1957. In the last three decades has won several prizes with his original paintings and photographs at different exhibits internationally. Beyond creating his original artworks he placed emphasis on copying, “après art” and produced over three hundred studies of mostly Impressionist and Post-impressionist Masters, with particular emphasis on the art of Monet, Gauguin, Marquet and Van Googh; and also those of Masters of the Italian Renaissance and Flemish art .He and his wife reside on the Palos Verdes Peninsula since 1986. They have two sons who live with their families in California and Colorado. Laszlo’s brother Steven, is a retired art historian and graphic artist educated in Holland and Spain.
