Paula Averyt is an amateur photographer who will be exhibiting her photography for the first time at Pita Jungle in Newport Beach. She previously had a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher with a passion for teaching and for the learning process , as well. For herself, choosing to be a lifelong learner has prompted her to pursue the goal of learning as much as she can about the complex diversity between cultures on our planet, and the landscape - both literal and figurative, which has shaped them. She delights in learning about the history of each new place she visits, and enjoys the art, architecture, food, clothing, and customs of the people. She believes, " Traveling to foreign and exciting destinations enriches your soul for the pure fun and exhilaration of encountering new places and new faces. These experiences leave an indelible imprint. Discovering why people think, feel, believe, and behave the ways they do in their unique societies gives you an appreciation for our differences and more importantly, for our similarities."During her travels in more than sixty countries, Paula has taken photos which have captured special and memorable moments for her. Whether it is in a a child’s smile or in the incomprehensible beauty of nature, or the genius of an architectural marvel, or any lovely landscape…whatever she has been fortunate enough to see and experience with her heart and mind have given her subjects to photograph.
