Karen Melnychuck is an artist and illustrator. She studied fine arts at Pratt Institute in New York. She has seven published children’s titles as iPhone apps and iBooks. Karen and her daughter have co-authored and illustrated six of these together. They are currently working on their eighth title, “Art Saguaros” which will be released later this Fall. In this book they explore the endless possibilities in painting saguaros from a creative perspective. Sofia says, “ Mom you can always take a picture if you want a realistic saguaro”. They will be exhibiting a series of their unique experimental saguaros, some featured in their upcoming book to be printed this Fall, at Pita Jungle on Broadway. Sofia is twelve and is currently a 7th grade student at BASIS Tucson North.
