What is Healthy Eating?

There are so many conflicting messages out there about healthy eating. Between the media, your doctors, your friends, and the all-powerful internet, it can get quite confusing! Whole grains are good for you! No, grains are bad for you! Don’t eat eggs, they have cholesterol! Yes, eat eggs, they’re high in protein! Eat this, not that! What’s a person to do? The key is to keep it simple and remember that moderation in itself, can help tremendously when it comes to determining healthy eating.

Pita Jungle’s “Art of Eating Healthy” Philosophy

Following a black-and-white list of strict diet rules is not necessarily the way to go – at least not for most people. At Pita Jungle, we evaluate healthy eating in our “Art of Eating Healthy” philosophy. Our healthy plates are comprised of proper portions and balanced nutrition, and we serve them up in a casual, friendly environment to be shared with family and friends – all part of a healthy lifestyle.

Healthy Eating in Moderation

So, what is healthy eating in moderation?

It means having your diet dominated by good stuff like fresh vegetables and fruits, beans and other legumes, fish, whole grains, and lean meats. It also means limiting the more fattening or sweeter things you love – having them in small doses and more rarely. After all, moderation doesn’t have to mean deprivation!

The other thing is that food doesn’t have to be dripping with grease, drowning in heavy gravies, or stacked between layers of thick bread in order to taste delicious. The anatomy of a healthy (and delicious) plate starts with Pita Jungle! Fresh vegetable salads, no-sugar-added fruit smoothies, pita roll-ups with cucumber or olive oil-based dressings, nutrient-rich beans and lentils, following the Mediterranean way of eating.

It’s all good for you – from our food prep in the kitchen to what’s served on your plate. That’s healthy eating!
